With so many demands on today's families, parents need all the support they can get. That is why child care at the Y is about more than just looking after kids. Y programs are designed to nurture youth development by providing a safe place to learn foundational skills; develop healthy, trusting relationships; and build self-reliance through the Y's character values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
Youth in Y Afterschool Care experience an enriching environment that combines academic enrichment, including homework support, with social-emotional development. Youth participate in engaging activities, like STEM, and our programs promote healthy lifestyles through nutritious snacks and active play. The values and skills learned in Y programs help them become strong, capable and engaged young people.
The Shasta Family YMCA Afterschool Program is offered in partnership with area school districts at the following school sites:
Boulder Creek School
Redding School of the Arts
All YMCA child care programs are licensed through the Community Care Licensing Division, and all staff receive pre-employment background checks. We have low staff-to-child ratios, and highly qualified staff who receive ongoing training.
Financial assistance and sibling discounts are available to those who qualify.
